June 20, 2024: Bonn Employment Law Day
On June 20, 2024, the 1st Bonn Employment Law Day took place on the premises of Deutsche Telekom AG. Under the general topic of "The future of employment law: what practice needs to prepare for", representatives from academia and practice discussed several future topics of employment law.
The conference, chaired and moderated by Prof. Dr. Stefan Greiner, began with a welcome address by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Bonn, Prof. Dr. Martin Böse. The series of lectures was opened by the President of the Federal Labour Court, Inken Gallner, with a lecture on the topic of "Challenges for the organization of labour law in Europe". This was followed by a lecture by the former President of the Federal Social Court, Prof. Dr. Rainer Schlegel, on the topic of "Securing the future of the welfare state". Ms Gallner and Mr Schlegel then discussed with Prof. Dr. Raimund Waltermann and Dr. Gerlind Wisskirchen, under the moderation of Dr Jürgen vom Stein, what impetus employment law and social security need in the light of Generation Z, digitalization and mobile work. Ms. Ebba Herfs-Röttgen then spoke about the framework conditions and design options for mobile work in Germany and abroad. Dr. Sandy Siegfanz-Strauß and Dr. Ursula Neuhoff then explained the topics of equal pay and pay transparency. Prof. Dr. Gregor Thüsing closed the conference with a presentation on the challenges of digitalization and data protection.
November 13, 2023: First practitioner seminar on labor law
The first event of Arbeitsrecht Bonn e.V. took place on November 13, 2023. Prof. Dr. Markus Stoffels from the University of Heidelberg gave a lecture on equal pay and freedom of contract in the Festsaal of the University of Bonn. This was followed by an intensive discussion with representatives from academia, the judiciary, the legal profession and students. With this event, we have resumed the practitioners' seminar on employment law developed by Prof. Dr. Meinhard Heinze and held until his death. In future, the practitioners' seminar will be held regularly several times a year under the auspices of Arbeitsrecht Bonn e.V.
June 19, 2023: Founding meeting
On June 19, 2023, the founding meeting of the association "Arbeitsrecht Bonn e.V." took place in the faculty hall of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Bonn. At this meeting, more than 20 founding members adopted the association's statutes and elected the association's board for the first time.
